Conway Stewart is a celebrated pen manufacturer, supplying pens to British Prime Ministers, foreign dignitaries and even 18ct gold pens to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, on their golden wedding anniversary.
Set up in 1905, by Frank Jarvis and Thomas Garner, Conway Stewart began making stylish reliable pens, opening the market up to the masses, due to their affordable prices. Their popularity grew quickly, as they gained a reputation for producing trusty and dependable writing instruments. They continued to flourish throughout the mid century, developing different styles, colours and sizes, all of which designed to suit the individual to their best needs.
The DURO 60 is an executive style pen , which was one of the top of the range at the time, and is a rare item to find in todays market, in such good vintage condition. Released in 1950s, it embodies an era of style and power, with its simplistic and timeless design. It has a lovely classic glossy black celluloid casing, with its original No. 60 14ct gold nib, and cap. Some plating wear to the gold pocket clip on the cap, and also the filling lever. Diamond shape monogram “CS” on both the lever and pocket clip.
