An excellent example of vintage art deco 1920’s travel clock with Art Deco gold & black Arabic numerals & hands. The clock is protected within a brown leather case that exhibits a gold design around the edge.
Travel clock have been an integral part of a persons attire travelling in the 1920/30s. These clocks could be used instead of pocket watches they can be unfolded and placed on the train table, bedside table or even on the car dashboard to function as a car clock. They were designed to be folded so they could fit in a suit or coat pocket. In addition their small size and weight helped with the limited luggage airline travellers could carry onto planes in the early times of commercial flight.
This example has brass winding crown to operate the Swiss movement inside. When open it stands 11cm height. However, the closed dimensions: width 11cm x length 11cm x height 3cm. The clock face is 5cm in diameter.
This has been used and travelled with as can be seen by the signs of use wear and the story it has lived.
This would be a great addition to a collector of Swiss made clocks or a gift to someone who loves the 1920s Art Deco style.
