Made in Sheffield, to mark the ascension of George VI to the throne. These souvenirs were given to school children to celebrate the occasion on 12th May 1937. George had never expected to be crowned king, yet on this date, he was crowned along with his wife Elizabeth ( the future Queen Mother), and was succeeded by his daughter, Queen Elizabeth II.

A distinctive piece of history, the twin Sheffield steel blades are housed in a white case, with a brightly coloured picture of King George VI, sitting on a coronation throne. It has “Made in Sheffield England imprinted on both blades.

It is in good vintage condition, with marks on the blades of wear commensurate with its age.
