Disney Nautilus Submarine
From Disney’s 20,000 leagues Under the Sea.
A light blue-green enamelled tinplate Clockwork “Nautilus” wind up diving submarine, based on Disney’s film version of “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” (“Vingt mille lieues sous les mers“, 1870), by Jules Verne. This little piece of movie history made in the UK by Sutcliffe Pressings Ltd, circa 1954, similar to the ‘Unda Wunda clockwork diving submarine’.
The little submarine has aged very well, over time the tin plated submarine has developed very characteristic patina.
